On March 13, 2025, Naiyana Chaitiangwong, Director of the Health Impact Assessment Division, Department of Health, participated as a speaker in the panel discussion on "Transboundary Haze and Pollution" at The 2nd Mekong-Japan Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Forum. The event gathered senior officials and representatives from government agencies, the private sector, academia, and civil society from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan at The Okura Prestige Bangkok.
The Mekong-Japan SDGs Forum is part of the Mekong-Japan Initiative for SDGs toward 2030, endorsed at the 12th Mekong-Japan Summit in 2019. This initiative evolved from the Green Mekong Forum, expanding its scope to cover all aspects of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and encouraging multi-sectoral participation to achieve SDGs by 2030.
During the session on "Transboundary Haze and Pollution: Health Impacts of Haze Pollution and Mitigation Measures", the Department of Health shared insights and experiences on managing and preventing health impacts from air pollution. The discussion provided an opportunity to showcase Thailand’s efforts in air pollution management and engage in international knowledge exchange. Additionally, the event facilitated collaborations with relevant stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and drive further action in combating air pollution and its health consequences.
